Mor Gregorios Jacobite Students' Movement (MGJSM) Is The Oldest Christian Student Organization In India.The Initial Meeting For A Student Organization In Malankara Was Conducted In 1907 As Syrian Student Conference.But Due To The Internal Problems In Malankara Church This Organization Declined And Became Non-Existant.It Was In 1922 That The Students Movement Was Again Initiated.On May 6th 1922 A Special Conference Of Students Was Conducted At Cheruthottukunnel St George By St. Paulose Mor Athanasiaus Of Aluva (Valiyathirumeni).This Meeting Decided To Name The Organization As Mor Gregorios Syrian Students' Association (MGSSA) After St Gregorios Of Parumala, Thus Becoming The First Organization To Be Named After Him In All The Christian Denominations And To Conduct Annual Conferences.The Organization Grew Under The Shade Of The Great Saint Athanasius Of Aluva And Michael Mor Divanasious.Simultaneously St Thomas Student Movement Flourished On Metran Kakshi.By 1950'S This Organization Had Grown To Become The Largest Spiritual Organization In Malankara With Nearly 500 Units And 20000 Members.In The Year 1960, As A Result Of Merging Of "Metran Kakshi" To Jacobite Church The Students Movements Of Both Churches Also Witnessed A Similar Merging.Thus Formed Mor Gregorios Orthodox Christian Students Movement (MGOCSM).It Went On To Grow Tremendously Till 1972 When The Merging Collapsed And Church Was Again Divided And So Was MGOCSM Forming Syrian Orthodox Students Movement Of India (SOSMI).This Irradiation Had A Dominated Growth In The Initial Phase But Soon Gained Momentum By 1990'S Under Our Current President H G Kuriakose Mor Theophilose Who, Then As A Priest Was The General Secretary Of The Organization.In 2002 As The New Constitution Of Jacobite Church Came Into Existence SOSMI Too Was Renamed As Jacobite Syrian Students Movement Of India (JASSMI).It Functioned Under That Name Till 2009 When The Holy Synod Of Jacobite Syrian Church Decided To Rename The Organization To The Original Name In Which It Was Originally Founded, Of Mor Gregorios, In 1922.Thus Mor Gregorios Jacobite Students Movement Was Formed And H G Kuriakose Mor Theophilose Was Given The Charge.The Annual Leadership Camp LUMINA Was First Initiated In 2011 And Has Become The Most Important Event Of MGJSM.In 2013 The First Regional Office Of MGJSM Was Inaugurated At Pallikkara Region .In 2013 Student Centers Started Functioning In Different Educational Centers.
